More on Guinness – Case Study

‘‘We decided we had to more or less revamp the brand and everything it stood for—re-invent it as it had re-invented itself many times already, and reconnect it to the new Ireland’’ – god article/case study about the marketing/ad campaign that Guinness did in 1996. It actually is an interesting read:

Design process and design management tips

Hi Lads,
here are two links that are worth reading on how to plan and manage the creative design process:

http://www.businessballs.com/productdesign.htm

and on project management, tools, process, plans and project planning tips:

http://www.businessballs.com/project.htm

It’s a bit text heavy but it will help us get our heads around the organizational part of this project.

Ray

http://summercarnival.ie/

Just seen that it was in use as a venue over the summer, I knew they used the building and yard space for Octoberfest. So we promote the venue as much as the product ya?

we could play on the fact that it is cheep and thats why people drink beamish, what ray said basically people drink it because its cheep, its not guinness and doesn’t taste as nice as murphys.

ok i think promotion has ruined me a bit  but, just filtering out crap in my head
but in a more clever way we could illustrate this through the beamish packaging. like i said just throwing ideas out of my head.
RAY: To be fair that is funny, one possibility anyway.

Starting over again…..

Ok Team 4, just to get the ball rolling…

We have all agreed that we will take on the rebrand of Beamish & Crawford so we all should start researching the following areas:

  1. Current situation, i.e current brand identity, packaging, website, target audience, advertising & promotion, etc.
  2. The beer/stout market in general and the different target audiences that various brands aim for.
  3. Micro breweries (there are literally tons of small artisan breweries popping up every minute and a lot of them have really cool and inspiring takes on branding and packaging).
  4. We should also probably dig up our notes from “Creative Technology – Web” because there were some good notes about creating websites for a specific audience (but that can be left for later on)

I also propose that we meet on Wednesday/Thursday after our scheduled classes for our group meeting so we can get all other organizational issues out of the way.

PS. Post everything on the BLOG! All research, anything of interest that you can find – it beats using tons of paper and ink for printing…
